65. From Gothic to Romantic: Thomas Chatterton's Bristol edited by Alistair Heys

A collection of seven essays about the poet Thomas Chatterton, mostly about his place in Bristol history and culture.  Very pretty volume with lots of illustrations, but these are Proper Academic Essays and were thus a bit challenging.  Which I found quite exciting, actually.

It has come to my attention that the Eden House gig at the Thekla is the same night as Sound of the Crowd (February 6th).

So who's planning on doing both/either?

Do I remember correctly that weekend gigs at the Thekla are very early so they can squeeze in a club afterwards?

Anybody up for this, or am I on my own?

While I remember, it seems that there's some new goth stuff starting up in Bristol, and on Saturday nights instead of Fridays so there's a chance I can make it:

Pandora's Box is on Saturday 26th August (bank holiday). I always wanted to go to that because the playlists looked eclectic & fun, but I'm usually asleep by 8 on a Friday.

Insidious (trad goth night) is the 23rd of September (when I will be away, but I can hope there's more)

and

The Vault (general alternative, more rock based) - 2nd Saturday of every month, started last week while I was away. There might be levels of rock that make me break out in hives & run out of the room screaming, but I'm willing to give it a go.

They're all in The Cavern Club at the Crown in St Nicholas market, so I hope I don't hate the venue.

Bristol Open Doors Day (which I annually find out about the day after, forget about, or feel too crappy to explore) is on Saturday 9 September 2006.

Maybe I'll make it this year.
