I got back from the wilds of County Down last night. Although we theoretically had broadband, I appear to have forgotten my password (I stay logged in at home) and was unable to log in. Thus, I have seen a few public posts, but was unable to leave any comments. So if there's anything you think I should know, drop me a line.

I got to wander around central Belfast for the first time (and get driven through the Short Strand). Even Belfast has better shopping than downtown Bristol. And superior architecture. Not that the former is difficult, but it was a war zone until recently.

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] indovan for the first time in far too many years, and duly attended an 80s night above a pub on the Ormagh Road (also used to be a war zone, allegedly) which, despite being a bit "greatest hits", was quite probably the best 80s night I've ever been to.

I did pretty much all I planned to do at the weekend, but I'm still distinctly post viral. Unsurprisingly, Ireland is not good for my arthritis. My joints had already seized up on Friday morning (we flew in on Thursday night). I'm working as few hours as possible this week to attempt recovery.

Zombina are playing in Birmingham on Saturday night. On the one hand - Zombina!!!! In a city less than 3 hours away!!! On a Saturday night!!! On the other - I need to rest. Shall see how I feel on Saturday.

Lastly, after a run of distinctly mediocre movies from our DVD rental club (my own fault, I did put them all on our list), tonight we watched the masterful Bubba Ho-Tep. A must-see.
