I went over to the other building to do some data entry, only to discover that on Friday someone decided to "upgrade" my machine, thus rendering it completely useless. (Long story short, the database I work on is not very robust, which is why every hospital has been given a stand-alone machine that is to be used for nothing but this database, otherwise the whole country's data could be corrupted).

Because the whole thing isn't terribly robust, I may not be able to get away with just uninstalling Office 2000 and re-installing Office 97, no matter how careful I am to make it exactly like my machine at the Children's Hospital.

Which leaves me no choice but to inform the UK database office. Which is run by the funding body. Which hates us already. Oh, and our funding is entirely riding on getting this thing done, and done right.

And if we lose our funding, guess whose job is in trouble? Yup, everyone's but the idiot who decided that MY PC (which technically doesn't even belong to the hospital) was public property. No matter how big a stink I make about it, the person who did it is unlikely to get in any trouble at all.

So I'm another step closer to losing my job because of someone else being an arsehole. (There was another incident last month that's kinda confidential).
