Pets & TV (the new rock and roll)
Oct. 1st, 2006 04:58 pmStill cold-ridden. Colour me unimpressed.
The Jerry bunny has gone and got himself fleas. I have no idea how - the hay would be the natural culprit, but Florence & the degus use the hay and don't have any. We haven't seen any in the house or been bitten ourselves. He wasn't scratching or anything - we only noticed when we went to brush him. So yesterday we had to put the stuff on the back of his neck and Florence's even though she doesn't have fleas (the vet insisted). We also have to check the rest of the zoo for fleas. So far everyone else is clean, but we haven't worked up to capturing gerbils yet.
I should have spent yesterday cleaning the house & all the animal cages thoroughly, but was seriously not up to that. Having said that, I've been keeping things cleaner than usual around here lately, so the infestation is especially puzzling. Today has mostly been spent sleeping.
On the plus side, UK History is repeating The Lost World of Mitchell and Kenyon, which I meant to watch the first time around. I know a fair bit about northern labour history, and it's really neat to see it in motion, as it were. I think one of the street shots was in front of Levenshulme Town Hall (though there's probably lots of similar buildings in the region, one of the trams going past had a sign reading "Longsight", so it's plausible).
I have discovered they are also repeating Coast, something else I was vaguely interested in but did not have time for when it was originally shown.

Date: 2006-10-02 08:51 am (UTC)The main thing that struck me about the Mitchell and Kenyon films - apart from that Pete's family may well be somewhere in there! - was the huge headscarves, more like blankets, that the women wore.
