Blood Diamond

I wasn't going to bother seeing Blood Diamond in the cinema - because I read a lot about Africa it's not like conflict diamonds are news to me, and I'm not usually a big fan of cinema violence.

However, the director was on Start the Week this morning, and apparently the diamond industry objects to the film and has a campaign against it. Given that I'm of the "why are people still buying diamonds anyway" school of thought (less of a minority opinion than I thought, apparently), I might have to move off the sofa and go out and see it.

People have thought it odd that I didn't want a diamond ring for my wedding ring. I never liked diamonds. I prefer stones with colour.

It's actually pretty good. But there is a lot of blood.
