On Saturday, I baked up a storm. I discovered the coconut macaroons are really easy to make (even if my over-enthusiastic oven turned them into crispy critters), as are ginger snaps.

Saturday night was Pandora's Box - first time I've made it despite all my good intentions. The new venue was much better than the Full Moon. I had a lovely time but having spent most of the afternoon on my feet took its toll and I turned into a pumpkin around one. Actually, I'm impressed that I lasted that long.

Yesterday was a bit of a write-off, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up on going out. I know perfectly well that going out, listening to music and bouncing around and talking shite to random people gives my mental health a boost that is more than worth the subsequent collapse, but over the last couple years I got so focussed on not feeling well enough, or worrying too much about the consequences, that I made a habit of sitting at home and moping. This feeds into the cycle of feeling like shit and being too embarrassed about being such a slug to make contact with Real Life.

Weekend DVDs were Jo-on: The Grudge 2, which I mostly didn't like as much as the first one, but the ending made up for that, and Garden State, which I didn't enjoy nearly as much as I expected to, or felt like I should have.

I'm still not sleeping (even by my usual shoddy standards). This is getting really annoying.

It's amazing how therapeutic a good night out can be, isn't it? I read InAMagazineSomewhereâ„¢ once that just going to the pub regularly can actually stop you getting heart disease and stuff, because of the benefits the increased interaction with other people and subsequent sense of being part of the human race gives one.

Tell me about it- I didn't get to sleep till 4 in the morning, and even then I woke up at 7.30, total hours sleep, 3.5 :-(

Caffiene naps are your friend...

I'm trying really hard not to take naps during the day, as I have to go back to work sometime (er- probably Wednesday) and don't want my sleep patterns to get too fucked up, but I'm out tonight, and have Stuff (TM) to do tomorrow, so I gave in and slept for an hour this afternoon.

Caffiene naps are different - they're one of those yuppy lifestyle Life Hack things, like power naps only better:

http://www.persistenceunlimited.com/2006/02/how-to-take-a-caffeine-nap/
The Caffeine Nap is simple. You drink a cup of coffee and immediately take a 15 minute nap. Researchers found coffee helps clear your system of adenosine, a chemical which makes you sleepy. So in testing, the combination of a cup of coffee with an immediate nap chaser provided the most alertness for the longest period of time. The recommendation was to nap only 15 minutes, no more or less and you must sleep immediately after the coffee.

I had several today, it was great! Same principle as Provigil.
