Sitll employed...
Jul. 2nd, 2002 08:18 pmAgainst my better judgement. But the combination of the credit card bill and the insurance bill for the new car showing up on Thursday convinced me to stay, for the time being.
I seem to have enough money in my account to pay the whole credit card bill. I did the math three times! The car is a bit more annoying - everyone said "it's a diesel, and a domestic make, it'll be cheap". But the fact is it's a practically-new expensive car and that makes insurance less cheap.
It's really annoying that I finally make almost a real income and have my finances under control, when I realize that the job is slowly killing me, or at least making me more disabled.
I will write letters to both the boss and my manager and quite possibly to Personnel, but it's the health service so nothing will ever come of it, but at least it will be on record that I have recognised that I the place is making me sick. It's not just the stress - I have an unsuitable desk/printer/etc arrangement that is probably responsible for the on/off pain thing in my right arm. I've had any number of verbal agreements to get me new office furniture but nothing has ever materialised.
Also, the person who really does all the work almost walked out, but her contractual issues have been resolved. I would have left if she had, because the last time we were a doctor short on the team I ended up at home sick for a month and almost in a wheelchair.
I will not go on long term sick and then go back again. They will be really nice to me for three weeks and then start being shitty again.
