It's official - Whitby is good for you
Dec. 2nd, 2002 12:37 pmBy some miracle, I haven't had any days off work sick since I got back from Whitby. This is impressive as prior to this I can't remember when I last put in a full week (I started to look it up in my diary, got to June and gave up). Admittedly I crawled in at 10 one day and left at 3:30 last Wednesday, but at least I put in nearly full days. I even made it in the day after my insomnia flared up and I had no sleep at all. Usually if I don't sleep, the sum total of my activity the next day is finding the phone next to the bed to call in sick. This lovely bout of insomnia did mean that I went to bed at 7:30 every night last week to try to catch up with sleep, and going out even at the weekend is out of the question.
This is not to say I feel significantly better, or even at all, but it has reduced the stress caused by having things go wrong at work because I'm not there, and by not feeling like I'm on top of things. I'm feeling more than ever like I've completely put my life on hold for a job I don't even like, but I need the money, and if I can work up a track record of coming to work more consistently, maybe I can even find a new job eventually.
