Jan. 21st, 2004 07:11 pmMy day off was just spent productively... at work.
But getting paid. This is the vital bit.
In fact, it looks like I'm working full time again. This is probably a Good Thing - I'm billing them for the extra hours but am not changing my contract, so if I have a week where where I'm not up to doing 5 days, it won't count against me in any way. Also, on the 5th day, because it's extra, I don't *have* to be there at 8:30 - life was much more civilised getting up an hour later today.
I can't get paid for the extra hours I've been doing on top of this, (3 so far this week - eek!) but with any luck I can build up enough to get a few days extra annual leave. I've never kept track of my overtime before, because it's always been more or less balanced out by the days I crawl in at 10 or take an extended lunch break.
It's not like I was actually accomplishing anything meaningful in my added spare time, so I might as well go back to accomplishing nothing meaningful but getting paid. So the house will go back to being a complete tip. I'll live.

I bought a new battery for my mobile phone last week. It's nearly 3 years old - I was shocked that I still could. The guy looked very surprised that I wanted the battery, because it cost nearly as much as trading in the phone would have. Ha!
