Another shopping failure
Jul. 2nd, 2004 08:39 pmWhy are summer clothes in this country so skanky and slob-tastic?
I went to hit the sales after work today, and all the cute 50s-esque outfits the shops were full of a few weeks ago (which should therefore have been on sale) have vanished in favour of awful string strap tops, obscenely short skirts, and other articles of clothing with no discernible shape. (I have to admit the selection in Toronto wasn't any better).
It wouldn't be an issue, except that my workplace has no air con and I'd like to be able to not melt without looking like - well, someone who lives in my neighbourhood. Lots of workplaces aren't air conditioned and have more stringent dress codes than we do. What is the heat-intolerant reasonably professional person to do? I'd settle for stuff that wasn't even black or purple if it was reasonably stylish.
I need a quick trip to France to pop into a Eurodif or Monoprix - cheap chain clothing stores where I got some cute yet smart black summer clothes last year.
