More stuff
Sep. 8th, 2005 08:39 pmI am officially a miserable cow with no sense of humour - this week's DVD was Saving Grace, and I was left thinking that it's an object lesson in how women really need to take responsibility for family finances so that doesn't happen to them. I suppose I was not helped by the fact that it's not all that good, and is really only saved by the pretty scenery, Bill Bailey and Martin Clunes (I don't even like Martin Clunes normally).
Speaking of disappointing viewing, ITV's new thriller, Marian Again wasn't that good. The first half was just good enough that I bothered to watch the second half, which was tedious except for the last 10 minutes, and even that was very predictable.
In a more positive note, I just finished reading In Xanadu by William Dalrymple. It's excellent, though made me feel more inadequate than usual - he took the trip it's based on in the summer holiday before his final year at Cambridge, and published it at the age of 22. The research about the various lands he visited is superb. I was certainly not that well read when I was 22. I've read all his books now. From the Holy Mountain is my favourite.
This weekend, I really must put my unwanted stuff up on Freecycle. I've been saying that for about six weeks now, so maybe by announcing it publicly I'll force myself to do it.
On Monday, I really did do nothing but work and sleep, unless you count shower & eat - I was in bed at 7:30 and asleep by 8. Yesterday wasn't much better.
