[fitness] Found a class that suits me
Jul. 22nd, 2010 08:29 pmI think. Subject to having an embarrassing gym-related inability to get out of bed tomorrow. I have definitely over-done it. World of pain. But unlike the fitball experience, I haven't actually pulled any muscles.
Tonight I tried a class called "body conditioning". I thought it would be along the lines of weights & stretching but it was more like aerobics with added strengthening exercises. There wasn't anything I plain couldn't do, but there were a lot of positions I couldn't hold for as long as we were supposed to. I struggled a bit with the co-ordination and balance required, but those are both things I really want to improve.
It has the added bonus that I don't have to leave work early to get there on time, and you don't have to sign up in advance. Because it's in the big main sports hall, as a class it's not as nice an atmosphere as the fitball, but it was far less humiliating. There was a range of ages and fitness levels from the really buff to people who struggled more than me.
The humiliation came after class - I had to call Jason to pick me up, because there was no way my legs were going to climb up the hill on the way home from the bus stop.
Apparently the structure of the class changes from week to week, but I'm definitely motivated to try it again. I might even get fit at some point.
