[Books 2007] Christopher Hitchens
Aug. 14th, 2007 03:36 pm41. God Is Not Great: The case against religion by Christopher Hitchens
The title is pretty self explanatory. There was not much in it that was news to me and I'm already on his side.
An entertaining enough read. My quibble is that it's 90% about the three main monotheistic religions with a short chapter entitled "There is no 'Eastern' Solution". While I understand that this is what he knows, and that these are the religions that are causing the most issues to the vast majority of his readership today, I'd really like to see other world religions get equal treatment.
Should check out the equivalent offering from Dawkins for comparison purposes soon.
I've been reading more books at once than usual recently (library deadlines, and I've often been feeling too crap to go upstairs or downstairs to get a book I'm reading and just grabbing whatever's closest and starting it) so you're probably going to get hit with 4 or 5 book reviews in the next week. You have been warned.
