Is done. I've got a lot of angry gastritis. Biopsies were taken to see if it's infected, which I was told is a common reason for it to persist for so long.
An altogether unpleasant day. The worst part of being on a pm list is the not eating and drinking. I don't deal well with not eating, so I got up at 6:30 to have some cereal and water. I also don't usually eat that early in the morning, so it left me feeling icky and unable to go back to sleep properly. I didn't actually have the procedure till 2 (time on my letter was 12:45). I was dizzy and shaking from the not eating by 12, and the hour and a bit that I was waiting in the hospital was extremely unpleasant. The dehydration headache has still not entirely gone away.
I actually volunteered to have it without the sedation because the thought of going several more hours without food & drink was scarier than the alternative. Also, it's possible that I'd have hangover from the sedation and being at work tomorrow is not optional.
In the end, the procedure took 5 minutes (not the 15-20 as advertised) so I'm actually glad I did it the way I did. It was more than a little unpleasant, and Lignocaine spray tastes absolutely disgusting, but it was completely over with the moment the scope was removed.
