Due to the sudden onset of serious lower back pain, a new mattress has gone from being from "something I'd like" to "something I need NOW".

UK people - Where should one go to purchase a mattress? Places to avoid?

(I already know that Ikea mattresses suck, and that I cannot afford House of Fraser mattresses even if they were having a sale, which they're not).

Sell one of Jason's kidneys and go for latex foam if you _possibly_ can. Yes they're expensive, but they're really so much better than the rest. Mine was from Foam For Comfort (Leeds, good mail order) and about a million pounds, but then it is a Global Emperor of Mongo size, not just a double.
