Hamlet Without David Tennant was surprisingly awesome.

Surprisingly? Because I hate Hamlet. I had to do it three years in a row between school and uni, and hated it more every time. I couldn't even watch the Kenneth Branagh version and I *heart* Ken. But I figured I can sit through three hours + of anything with Tennant.

Decided to go even without Tennant, because Jason really wanted to and it still had Patrick Stewart. Stewart was, incidentally and predictably, marvellous, and I'm seriously considering trying to get tickets for him + Sir Ian in Waiting for Godot. Edward Bennett, the young understudy, has clearly been studying Tennant closely, and it was like watching Bennett being Tennant playing Hamlet, which was in and of itself really interesting. The sets and lighting were completely wonderful, and I'm really glad I went.

My attendance was made possible by my trip to the osteopath on Friday night. My back is not yet 100%, but I have my full range of movement back, and I've spent the last 48 hours doing things that are not conductive to having a healthy back and I'm still OK.

The weekend also included a trip to a fabulously decadent hotel bar (and a bill to match) and a visit to my favourite shops in Crouch End.

ALSO, it can be Christmas now, as I've had my yearly injection of gingerbread latte (now available from Costa so no trip to Starbucks necessary), and I've heard Fairytale of New York.

It's touring before opening at the Theatre Royal in London at the end of April: http://www.waitingforgodottheplay.com/splashpages/?gclid=CJ6Pn_SXwpcCFcsa3godEi8qRw

I'm going to try to get tickets for Bath or Malvern.

I went to one called The Fishponds Practice on Fishponds Road - probably not convenient for you, but just down the road from work for me.
