8. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

I finally broke down after having enjoyed season 1 of the TV version.

I'm still not sure what I think. Most of my favourite parts of the TV adaptation aren't in the book, though in some ways it's very faithful to the book. I read it with Anna Paquin's voice in my head, but I suspect that if I hadn't, the style would have been annoying. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't that hard to put down either.

I think I need to try another one, where I don't know exactly what's going to happen.

I do like the message, though - you don't have to be urban-dwelling or well-educated to be tolerant and kind. For that alone I will give the next one the benefit of the doubt.

January reading resolutions round-up

Books read - 7

of which, non-fiction - 2

of which, library books - 3

Making the to-read pile smaller - COMPLETE FAILURE. Library trips aside, I had a big accident in the WH Smith sale, bought the next 3 Raymond Chandlers online, and my friend sent me the two books her mum wrote (more about these later).
