Big Bunny is Unwell

inulroWe have been to the V.E.T. and she's got assorted medications, but essentially it's extreme old age making itself known in various ways.
Last night, I decided she (or rather the back quarter of her) needed a B.A.T.H. before being taken anywhere. The fact that I still have all my fingers and did not bleed at all indicates that she is not a well bunny. I gave up before she got properly clean because she looked so upset and hurt, rather than because I was bleeding profusely (which is the usual reason for abandoning any grooming task with her). Plus, there was water everywhere. She also put up with the blow-drying remarkably well, but eventually hopped off in a strop and went to bed with soggy feet.
Normally, I'm OK when I lose pets - it's a function of keeping many small creatures with short lifespans. However, at 9 years old, she's been part of my notoriously unstable life for longer than just about anyone or anything else. She's had to put up with some less than optimum care, and there were times I felt I wasn't giving her the home she deserved, but all the pet rescue shows said that rabbits are the hardest animals to re-home (especially large, bloodthirsty ones), so I always got my shit together so that I could look after her. One good thing about where we live now is that she's had the run of her own secure garden for the last 3 years. We'll give her her medication and see how she goes, but it doesn't look good.
Somewhere in all the bunny wrangling, I pulled something in my lower back. She has not lost any weight and is still 4 kilos of pure distilled evil (with cute floppy ears). I had phoned through my repeat prescription but forgotten to pick it up so there were no real painkillers in the house last night. This probably explains why I didn't sleep last night - I'm worried about Snuffles, but not enough to keep me up.
