inulroY'all know how I was down to a sane number of pets? (Big Bunny is still with us and somewhat better after the antibiotics).
I've acquired a poorly elderly rat and a not at all well gerbil.
The rat is a lovely old ginger hooded guy called Frodo. His brother had to be put to sleep this week so he's a bit lonely now. Unlike the last one I took home in this situation, I don't expect that Frodo will hang about for 8 months. I suspect he's past the restorative powers of Chinese food. He's very friendly and likes to be cuddled but also sneezes, very explosively, a lot.
My gerbil needs a name. I know I usually use whatever they get named at the shelter, but this one's just bad, and Mr. Gerbil is inadequate even by my standards[1]. He's black with white spots on his front feet. We think he's old because he doesn't do much, but he was also neglected before he came to us, so he might not be. At least he's no longer covered in mites. He doesn't seem to have even figured out digging and ripping up cardboard, which is just so wrong for a gerbil. Jason suggested calling him Satan but he's too useless to be Satan. I've been meaning to bring him home for a while, but between going away and being busy with the bunny, I haven't been able to.
