Dec. 24th, 2003 03:00 pmWent to see Return of the King last night. It rocks! Must have been a comfy cinema, as I did not hurt as much as I should have afterwards. Got home a bit late so have been late for everything I needed to do today.
Jason said he probably liked TTT better, but I was pretty damned impressed by ROTK. I was ready to be offended that they'd skipped The Scouring of the Shire, which to my mind is the whole point of the book, but the film worked very well without it and it would have required really excessive time to include.
Not enough elves. I get that the point is it's the beginning of the Age of Man and elves are becoming irrelevant, but, damn, elves are keen.

Elves are indeed keen, even if I do have the mad hots for Aragorn.

Date: 2003-12-24 07:07 am (UTC)Ditto. I was really expecting to be disappointed by the ending, that it was going to be some hollywood happy ending where they all live happily ever after. Thankfully Jackson still managed to convey how much the hobbits had been changed, and that it wasn't an idyllic ending, without that. Well impressed. I especially loved the scene where the four hobbits are sitting in the inn back in Hobbiton, surrounded by simple hobbit good cheer and noise and burble, but they're silent. It really brought home that they weren't just simple cafefree hobbits anymore.
And god, I leaked like a sieve through most of the last half-hour.

*sniff*
I'm so dying to see it again.
