The early chapters just catalogue the archaeology (with which I'm already pretty familiar) - what it tells us about actual belief is pretty close to zero.
The rest is about Roman and Celtic paganism which is fleshed out with more substance but when looked at critically the answer is still "we don't know".
Followed by a respectful but "no, it's not" examination of survivals of those religions to the present day.
Good but a bit dry - it's much more interesting to see him speak in person.
