This has been sitting on the recorder for ages because I've been waiting to have enough functional brain cells to devote to it. Eventually admitted that was never going to happen and watched it anyway yesterday.

Bleak and a bit complicated, but very, very good.

Yes. I viewed it the other month and wished I'd gone to see the thing at the pictures.

I accidentally a pile of books from the s/h stall in the Guildhall market (as decoys for the 'library' that manglement insist we should have instead of books on desk (which, no.)) and that was among them. It is really very good, too. The seventies were rather grim, it seems.

I was a little sceptical when it was announced, that they could successfully whittle what the tv series did down to a two-hour movie, but by gum they managed it!

The book is one of my all-time favourites, I love it. It has a subtlety and tension that few others can match.

The 1970s TV series is fantastic. I found the film quite disappointing, especially as they removed the single revelation that proves there is a mole within the Circus.
