Big Trip and Good Suits

I was burned out on work today, so I spent some time trying to work out whether my tentative Big Holiday Plan was feasible.

Money notwithstanding, even with the extra leave I need to use at some point, I simply cannot do Atlantic Canada + Toronto + Convergence without cutting one, some or all of them short. And seeing as a comprehensive tour of Nova Scotia, PEI and bits of New Brunswick is something that's been a high priority for ages, I really don't want to do that. We wouldn't be able to head to Toronto overland and stop in Quebec City, as I would like to do, because I haven't been there since high school and Jason just hasn't been. Cutting Toronto short would mean I wouldn't get to see everyone, plus no chance of looking for jobs. It might be possible if I flew to Chicago from TO and then home from Chicago, but expense aside, I do not feel comfortable about using US airports as things stand currently. (I panic enough about the land crossing).

So, does anybody know how long one needs to see the Maritimes properly? (Not counting Newfoundland, although if the ferry trip wasn't too onerous I'd go over for a day just so I could say I've been to all 10 provinces)

Interestingly, the timing is such that flights into Halifax are only going to be cheap the week of Convergence. I know I find myself with extra money, but full-price flights would be a quick way to put a stop to that. Mid-May should be good weather-wise, both down east and in TO.

Oh, and if I'm job hunting, how much are good suits in Toronto? Mine is indeed good, but it's a few years old now and would have to survive being carted round the east coast first. I haven't yet decided whether to stick with health care (in which case I only need a middling suit[1]) or sell my soul to corporate law or investment banking (this scenario requiring a Very Good Suit Indeed).

If I can't make Convergence, I'm thinking seriously about Leipzig. Or just making more of an effort to get out and see people and bands over here.

(Come summer I should be relatively healthy and working part time again. I hope).

PS still no sign of my CDs from either Resurrection or Darkcell. Should I be worried on top of impatient?

[1] Not entirely true. With my CV, I don't even need that.

If Tom's womens selection is as good as his men's stuff then substantially less than you'd think.

IT's an odd store - cheap 'cos it's in Ken Market, more cheap 'cos it's incredibly crammed with stock but sells good clothes with a staff who know what they're talking about.

I've seen the same items on sale at
