I was virtuous as planned this morning and went to the Farmers' Market in town. I did a good deal of our weekly shop there. Next time, I will remember to wander around the indoor market first, then buy heavy stuff.

I know all the sustainable living resources tell you to buy your veg by what's in season and experiment, but that doesn't change the fact that most of the local seasonal veg available (no matter what the season) is some variation on cabbage, and not the sort you can make coleslaw out of (my only use for cabbage, and that's only because it's covered in dressing). So I'll still be buying my pre-prepared bags of various lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers from the evil supermarkets. I might attempt to grow some this year. Which reminds me, it's nearly DIY-herbs time, which we did very well at last summer. They all died when we moved them indoors in the cold weather though.

I have also taken out a household membership of Avon Wildlife Trust.

Once again, I was reminded that Bristol is a nice place when I get out of East Bristol or Broadmead (which is essentially a shopping centre for those of the East Bristol mindset).

Now I need to work up the energy to do something about the state of my kitchen.
