Creepy Girl Cabaret acts

So I'm taking advantage of the time to check out some bands as recommended by![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
blu_muse recently, which she called her "creepy girl power perfect concert lineup".
The Dresden Dolls (http://www.dresdendolls.com) are awesome. They describe themselves as "brechtian punk cabaret", which pretty much sums it up. In a good way (I can see how that could be awful). Amanda's voice is very powerful, and the lyrics are incredibly twisted. Highly recommended. Oh, and the web site is beautiful. They have a "download tracks for 75 cents" thing going on, which I will attempt when my head is less fuzzy.
Jill Tracy (http://www.jilltracy.com/) and Nicki Jaine (http://www.nickijaine.com) are good, but didn't hold my attention so well. They're both female vocal with piano/acoustic guitar type acts. Some of the Jill Tracy tracks, particularly "Evil Night Together", sounded very familiar, but I really can't think where I could possibly have heard them before. Jill Tracy's stuff is very polished and professional. I wasn't that impressed with Nicki Jaine at first but it's growing on me. Some of it's pretty creepy as well, in a 1930s kind of way.
Although Dresden Dolls are my favourite by far, all three bands are well worth checking out.
