Anybody see today's Daily Telegraph?
Nov. 10th, 2002 08:40 pmwith the big headline "Defy us now and we go to war" sitting underneath the seasonal image of a poppy?
Oh the irony. I wonder whether the editors didn't notice, didn't grasp the significance or just didn't care.
Saw it on News 24 when I was getting ready for work this morning so had to go out and actually purchase the Telegraph for the first time in my life. I suspect it's going to get mounted and framed. If I had a scanner I'd just have made a website.
Buying the Telegraph wasn't otherwise a complete waste - it alerted me to the fact that there's a new travel book by Paul Theroux of an overland trip from Cairo to Cape Town with a rather keen excerpt. I'll either get it from the library or wait for the paperback. (I'm banking on there being a paperback edition).
As to why I'm killing brain cells in front of the computer when I have a copy of _The Little Friend_ which I was up half of last night reading, it's because I'm waiting for the locals to stop blowing things up (if I'm lucky, before midnight) and the dogs to stop howling. Have I mentioned recently how much I loathe this time of year? Next year I'll be abroad. I mean it this time.
