inulroI recently patched up one of the gaping holes in my music collection & purchased Lou Reed's Transformer. It's one of those things I never bought because back when I had a life but no money, everyone else owned it.
I had completely forgotten that it was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson (the only logical conclusion is early onset Alzheimers), and have no idea how I have spent all these years failing to notice that both "Perfect Day" and "Satellite of Love" could have come off Hunky Dory. The keyboard arrangements alone give it away.
It's a great album (DUH! - next: grass is green & pope catholic, etc). In context, I even see the appeal of Walk on the Wild Side - when I was an undergraduate, that song was a cliché, and an over-used one at that, so it's never been terribly special to me.
