I have, at long last, seen Dogs in Space. More than a decade after I first heard about it. Go me.

My intention this weekend was to get everything ready to go to France, as we have to leave straight after work on Friday, and we all know how good I am at doing stuff after work during the week. Due to feeling like I've been hit by a train, this hasn't happened.

A funny thing happened at the shelter on Saturday morning. We have an influx of mice at the moment. Whenever we are inundated, there are escapes because people get overwhelmed & careless. I'd taken a cage down & done a count & discovered that there were only 5 mice where there should be six. My heart sank. If a mouse doesn't want to be found, it won't be. Once it's found, they can take hours to catch.

At that very moment I looked up and saw the culprit skipping down the corridor in the staff only area. He was secured & back in the cage within 5 minutes.

Very occasionally, I think the universe doesn't hate me after all.

Best Australian movie EVAH! :)

There's one or two errors (a couple of things popping up that weren't around in 78-80) but generally speaking the attention to detail was amazing. That's My Melbourne! *proud grin* (though I remember somebody on alt.gothic, it might've been {exile}, saying how it captured such a feel that it could have been the alternative scene in any city in the world at that point in time).

*sigh* They keep promising us a DVD....

Are you the one who knows people who were extras in it?

As for the alternative scene in any city aspect, Jason's comment was "that house was depressingly familiar. It's something about young people being poor & on drugs".

I have to admit to not getting the joke about the service station in Ballarat until I read some commentary online.

I was asked to be in it! :D I was at the filming of the opening scene, where they're all camped out for tickets to see Bowie. Me and some friends were just there to watch for a little while, but we got asked by some crew dude if we wanted to take part. Sucked being 16 and having to front for school in the morning! *pout*

But, yeah, most of the extras were musos from the late '80s scene here. People I used to go and see on a regular basis and stuff...

PS - I did see it on DVD, through my online rental company. God only knows where they got it from, but it definitely exists.

What I need now is the soundtrack, which doesn't look like it's been reissued.

Ooooooooooh! *eyes lighting up* Will be tracking that down now, for sure. Thanks. :)

The soundtrack is bloody excellent, btw. Yeah, they should definitely reissue that.

*sigh* We really, *really* need a working turntable and the software that converts vinyl to CD-able data...
