I made my first attempt at the sales today. There were too many people, and nothing I'm desperate to buy (except for the rather cool skirt in Wallis for £5 which I braved the queue for), so I'll wait for a couple weeks till the tail end of the sales. Such is the advantage of working in the city centre.
I spent my Waterstones vouchers (on Monday Waterstones was the busiest store in town, today it's the quietest) on _Spain's Road to Empire_, which I had decided was required reading as soon as it came out.
The most depressing thing I saw was _The Little Friend_ has been reduced to £4.99 in hardback. I have already read it, so I suppose I shouldn't complain (I'd be upset if I'd bought it full price and it was still on the "to read" shelf).
