[Travel] Progress, of sorts
Jun. 20th, 2005 07:56 pmAfter spending more time on the net looking for flights to New York than any sane person should, I have finally found an advance on the frankly exhausting fly to Montreal and get the train south plan. This involves flying Aer Lingus from Dublin. Fares are lowest from the 2nd to the 12th of October. Rough plan goes something like: fly to New York, spend 2 or 3 days. I'd love to spend longer, but we are without a free place to stay there, and NYC hotel prices are going to bankrupt me. Then take the cheap Chinatown bus to Boston and stay for just over a week. Fly to TO for maybe 4 days at the end. (That bit is easier than I thought - the standard Air Canada Tango fare isn't too steep, and there's many direct flights per day).
So, North America folks - if you want to see me, are there dates that would be best/to be avoided? Events I should know about? Once again I'll be just missing Hallowe'en, which has become something like an annual event.
I've never flown Aer Lingus, but I am not caring so much if it is the worst airline in the world. The price is such that I can't argue, and I have vast quantities of painkillers & sleeping pills. And they can't be worse than MyTravel.
Another example of being years too late.
Back in the day when I was doing the student travel schtick between here and Canada, flights to New York or Boston were dirt cheap, but that didn't help me because I then had no way to get home from either of those destinations. So now, I finally want to fly from England to New York or Boston, and it's the other way round!
