This week's random rental DVD was the American version of The Grudge (we got the Japanese one some months ago). If anything, it's even more creepy than the original. It's extremely faithful to the original but with Americans living in Tokyo.

My verdict on the Tarantino CSI is that it was good, but it wasn't CSI.

Yup, I wasn't over-keen on the Tarantino CSI. Particularly the long, not-especially-in-character dialogues.

And I worked out the fan and light might be connected within seconds...

The dialogue between Catherine's dad and his friends was a crime against screenwriting.

I also worked out that those intestines weren't going to turn out to be human right away.

The only intestines I've ever seen are the chitterlings my butcher sells!

Don't think I'll be trying any of those, mind.

I dunno, bits of it were, bits of it weren't. Warrick was mainly wrong - his conversation with Nick at the beginning, about being hassled when out with a girl, was very Tarantino but entirely un-Warrick. The Dukes of Hazard board game scene with Greg & the other guy was cute, but unrealistic.
Generally, I felt that the actors were perhaps glad to have a bit more to get their teeth into than usual, tho' a lot of that might have been the fact that it was a 2-part episode & so there was more time for character moments, rather than just the Tarantino connection. However, if he is considering a tv show, or even just doing more guest-directing on other existing shows, than I think that could be very interesting.
