Things you don't see every day

Looked out the window this afternoon to see that the Matthew is moored next to my workplace. It's the first time I've actually seen it, because the place it's usually moored when it's at home is right across the city. According to the website, it's booked for a harbour cruise tomorrow night.

Ah, that's the other ship in the harbour besides the "Great Britain"!

There were three (at least) ships in the harbour, but it seems we nearly lost the Balmoral this week.

In similar transport-spotting vein, we had a steam train past our office windows today!
(an unknown GWR Castle class, in BR-era paint, hauling a special from Bath to Bristol)

I was informed this morning that the Matthew was not at its usual place because there was some kind of memorial service yesterday for the merchant navy, and that the funny little monument thing across the water from our building is the local war memorial for the merchant navy.
