One angry-making thing:

Violence Against Women in Saudi Arabia
Daily, I hate the fact that the western world sucks up to the Saudis for oil. There has to be a better way, like going back to the stone age for want of their oil.

One thought-provoking thing:

Beefing up public health infrastructure is our best defence against flu pandemic

In particular:

That means employment opportunities, income support, decent housing, breaking isolation, home care, chronic-disease management plans, vaccination and other basic ealth measures that are not related to a pandemic per se.

And some regional news:

In case I haven't made clear lately why I left Saskatchewan:
Old man winter rears his ugly head and the homicide rate - scroll down for the bit about Regina.
(Of course it's more complicated than that. Virtually all the homicides in Regina occur within the First Nations community which is another whole can of worms).

Finally

The thing that made me feel all warm and fuzzy this morning (Martha Stewart denied entry to Canada because of criminal record) looks like being resolved. Because if you're a rich criminal, the same rules don't apply. Thankfully questions have been asked in Parliament.

Apologies if the Globe tries to make you register. I did ages ago so have never noticed, but when I ran this through preview just now I got the registration screen. Weird. I've substituted non-Globe articles where I could, but both CTV and CBC appear to have pulled the earlier installments of the Martha Stewart saga, and the public health article is only in the Globe.
