Christmas Plague
Dec. 26th, 2005 04:18 pmNot just me, both of us. We can't say our co-workers never give us anything.
It's not all bad - we're spreading the Christmas cooking over three days instead of doing it all at once. This is one of the best holiday ideas ever and it could well become a tradition.
I vegetated in front of the the Bogart films on Channel 5. I'd not seen The Big Sleep before, and did not realise that William Faulkner wrote the screenplay. I did know that Faulkner had a day job as a screenwriter for many years, but had never seen his name in the credits before. It did not suck.
I hadn't seen Casablanca in about 15 years and was relieved to discover that it really is as good as I remembered.
There was also a 1943 film called I Walked With a Zombie on Christmas eve which was surprisingly good.
Finally got around to watching the new production of The Wyvern Mystery. I must have read the story, but none of it was familiar from Le Fanu, but plenty like Jane Eyre. It was adapted by the guy who butchered The Woman in White so I think I need to re-read the Le Fanu story and may feel the need to rant at length later.
Edit: I haven't read The Wyvern Mystery, so I need to get hold of it (there is no etext available).
