This weather can still bite me. I don't like to think how much energy I've expended struggling against the wind in the last few weeks. I might almost have been able to do something constructive with it.

I was perusing the TV listings, and discovered that ITV4 are re-running Dark Skies. For those who were mercifully oblivious the first time round, it was a sub-X-files alien conspiracy drama set in the Kennedy era. It is notable only in that my household at the time turned it into a drinking game. I think you had to drink whenever they declaimed about The Truth and stuff.

I discovered this while we were watching Bones, another decided non-classic that we Just Cannot Stop Watching, and Jason decided that Bones would make a good drinking game too - drink every time Temperance is socially dysfunctional. No, we didn't, because it's a school night.

Which led me to remember the classic TV drinking game of my undergraduate years - The Smurfs. You had to drink every time someone says "Smurf", and twice for every "Papa Smurf". Some of you may now wonder how I ended up with advanced degrees, let alone the first one. (In my MA year I vaguely recall a Star Trek: The Next Generation drinking game with variable rules).

So - what TV shows have you all played drinking games to, and which are just crying out for the treatment?

I've done Star Trek TNG at Warped in Manchester. Technobabble was a good one depending on the episode. Other notable ones have been films:

Mallrats
Dr. Strangelove

I really like Kathy reichs novels, and Bones has ruined them for me :(

Plus it's got Boreanaz in it. I never understood what people saw in him. He's not very good looking, and often seems to act like a lump of wood.

Ah, I was indifferent to Kathy Reichs novels, tho' I have read all of them (I think) and I actively enjoy Bones! And Boreanaz is good in it - he gets to be amusing, not just pale 'n' broody.
