Brain death

inulroSometimes, the cognitive deficits don't bother me and I sit & around, watch too much Buffy, read trashy thrillers and it's all good.
Then I do things like watch Niall Ferguson's new vehicle, War of the World. While it was good as TV history stuff goes (the desire to lob bricks through my TV has a lot to do with why I stopped watching much "informative" TV and went for trash instead), there were several things I should have been able to nit-pick in detail, rather than vaguely knowing that he'd oversimplified the situation. Granted, it's been a long time since I studied the first world war or Russian history, but it's the knowledge that even if I could gather the facts to hand, and get some idea of my thoughts on the matter in my head, I wouldn't be able to form anything resembling a coherent argument or commentary that gets me down.
It's particularly annoying today, because today I decided I should look for a new job, but when all one's job skills are language-based, and the verbal centres of one's brain are fried, one's employment prospects are limited. I only lasted as long as I did in medicine because you don't need to be able to form sentences to present the relevant information.
