Philip Pullman, etc
Mar. 3rd, 2003 11:59 amLast trip to the library I took out Northern Lights. I finished it this morning. Words fail me - a book that is actually better than the hype. I may or may not have the discipline to wait and get the other two volumes from the library.
In other good news, the baby rats are at their cutest - eyes open, big enough to handle, running around a bit, but not yet too fast and devouring everything in sight. They are taking solid food out of the dish, but I don't think they're eating it yet.
I got paid on Friday and engaged in Retail Therapy. Y'all know how I'm supposed to be cutting down on buying miscellaneous shit so I can concentrate on paying off my loan? Unfortunately FP have a really funky Death rag doll. It's hideously overpriced - if I was going to Canada any time soon I'd wait and buy it there. But I bought it anyway - it's very cute. The comix I bought are, of course, perfectly acceptable expenses. I ordered the Ghoultown CDs from their online shop and will no doubt be intolerable when they turn up.
On the bad news front, I'm seriously feeling like shit. I didn't even attempt work today. I feel like I have go to in tomorrow, because otherwise the temp will be on her own, but it was feeling like I needed to be there on Thursday and Friday that put me in this mess. (As it was, I was an hour late for the meeting on Thursday and got volunteered for all manner of shit jobs in my absence). I am trying very hard to take it easy this week so I can make it to SubSpecies on Saturday night.
