Stuff again (Good and Bad)

inulroYesterday was really bad - I felt like crap and wanted to come home & go to bed, but first I got stuck at work as we were actually busy, and then it was mouse cleaning day (leaving that for one extra day has unpleasant consequences), and I had to feed all the rest of the zoo as well before I could even contemplate passing out. I'd hit the level of tiredness where I'm exceptionally clumsy, which made these small jobs more complicated than they need to be.
When Jason was first told he'd have to do a lot of traveling, I said that I might have to cut down my working hours to cope with looking after myself. Yesterday was the first time I thought that might have to happen. Unfortunately my current job is probably not flexible enough to accommodate this.
So it's just as well I've been feeling much better today, isn't it?

Punk: Attitude is a really rather fabulous history of punk. I highly recommend it, and might well have to purchase my own copy. It helps that it features lots of commentary by Henry Rollins. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Henry Rollins? I was also impressed by how articulate Captain Sensible is, and by how many members of the New York Dolls are still alive. Seriously. I was under the impression they had a higher body count than the Ramones. I don't believe I've ever seen a picture of Jello Biafra before (I lead a sheltered existence), much less interview footage, and was quite impressed with him as well.
It also reminded me a)there's early punk outside the Ramones, and b)I need to get downloading some of the music I'm missing, not least things like Television and Suicide. Instead, I have been mostly listening to the Blank Generation compilation. I'm very much a sucker for all the early New York stuff.
Innocence is the creepiest thing I've seen in a long, long time. It's also very pretty & makes good use of colour, but for all that, it's - um - kinda boring. Y'all should probably see it anyway.
As usual, I'm sure there was something else I had a burning desire to broadcast to the world, but can't remember what it is, that will come back to me the moment I shut the computer down. Oh well.

Date: 2006-07-16 09:30 am (UTC)I only watched it to the end to see if it would have a point and was reaching for the steam iron again when I realised it was all some sub-freudian sexual coming of age metaphor replete with obvious phallic fountains in the final scene.
One of the worst films I've watched in years, I'm afraid!
