Baby gerbil update
Aug. 28th, 2006 07:40 pmHe, she or it (that I'm still not sure what gender it is leads me to believe it's probably a little girl) is a little bundle of energy and cuteness. Today, some "gerbil stuff" gene got switched on and she suddenly got a lot better at digging, shredding and building.
For something that spends all its time eating, there's been a worrying lack of growth. The body has filled out a bit, but there's still a bald spot on her back and the tail & feet are still shockingly pink.
She's OK here for another couple of weeks, but if she doesn't bulk up soon I'm not sure what to do - we really don't have room to keep her in a proper tank; and if she gets any more efficient at chewing is going to go right through the plastic roof of the container she's in. I'm also not so happy about randomly rehoming her if she's not going to be 100% right, but I don't really have a choice.
