William Dalrymple has a new book out: The Last Mughal
I was all disappointed when I realized I'd read all his books, so a new one is exciting. On balance I have preferred his travel writing to his history so far, though they have the recommending feature that he goes to India and studies sources untouched by Western scholars.
Several days ago I was even more excited about a new book on what Londoners really got up to during the war (black markets, not going to bomb shelters, that kind of thing); however, I can't find any review of or reference to it now. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please tell me!
