We lost the all the baby bunnies. This morning, one was dead, one was clearly on the way out, but the other one looked fine. They were all gone by the time we got home.
I'm not sure why, but we suspect that the mummy bunny didn't know what to do with them. But we also know nothing about her and how she was cared for during most of the pregnancy, and (provided her previous owners gave us the correct information) she is very young to be giving birth at all.
For some odd reason, I find this more upsetting than when my own pets die, and I'm feeling vaguely guilty even though I know there was nothing we could have done. Baby bunnies are very fragile little things.
Mummy appears to be fine. I have to phone someone from the shelter later to find out if she needs any special care now.
