Today's project was painting the hallway upstairs and down (the hideous peach monstrosity I've been meaning to obliterate since we moved in 2 1/2 years ago). We got about halfway through and ran out of paint, which is just as well, because that was lots more activity than I really needed. Thank goodness for Dulux Once, so we don't have to go through the whole process again.

It's a little more red and less ochre/terracotta-y than I had in mind, but it looks really good. I'm working with the added advantage that *anything* is a vast improvement on the original state.

My entire body feels like jelly and I think I've sprained one of my fingers, and I've just spent three hours lying down. And I have to work tomorrow.

I think it's a good compromise between you can do a nice Mediterranean/ Spanish gothicky theme if you get the right accessories, yet trendy enough that you don't have to paint over the whole lot when it's time to sell the house.

It's a tricky colour to get right though - you might end up with an orange house! I think I'm going to go with light greys and dark reds, when I get the time!

That's why I went with a red terracotta type shade rather than orange. In the end, it's a little more Johnny the Homicidal Maniac than Mediterannean gothic, but it still looks really good, and about a billion times better than it was at the beginning.
