Well, that was...epic
Apr. 22nd, 2003 02:46 pmI've been at it for months, but I've finally finished reading A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. It's really long, but not at all hard going, and very much worth the effort, even if I felt the main character married completely the wrong guy in the end. Even though it's about Important Themes, it rarely feels like it. The person I borrowed it from can look forward to having no space on her book shelves when I get round to returning it.
As usual, all the things I wanted to say have gone straight out of my head as soon as I opened up this window.
I still hurt. Decorating is well known to be bad for people with my condition, but I couldn't very well just sit there and direct Jason! As it is, I did much less than half the work. I have not been able to convince anyone here to prescribe me any interesting painkillers, as I would probably do a more "creative" version of work than I am now.
I had a productive morning at the shelter on Saturday - we rehomed 7 rats and a rabbit before I left at lunch time. I had to go in briefly on Sunday to feed and water, but had more volunteers than anticipated show up (how often does that happen?) so it took less than an hour.
Everybody else may have been doing spring cleaning; we appear to have trashed our house.
I really want to keep the Temporary Bunny - she's adorable and does good bunny things like sit on the sofa with us and runs around the house without destroying everything in sight. Unfortunately, Snuffles hates her. I let them both out in the back garden at the same time and had to break up a very cartoon-esque fight involving fur flying everywhere. Snuffles has become so old that the tiny bunny was winning. If I thought Snuffles was close to being on the way out I'd keep the little one and keep them well apart, but knowing Snuffles she'll survive another year or so in Inactive Mode just to annoy me. So the Temporary Bunny is going to have to go back to the shelter on Saturday. She's tiny, young and friendly so will undoubtedly find a good home very soon.

Date: 2003-04-22 12:19 pm (UTC)Yep, a bad day at B&Q. Despite having worked in interior design some years ago my colour sense it awful (actually they wouldn't let me do colour, but that was fine as I did the architectural stuff instead).
All wine reds actually look like mud. Slate grey is impossible to find. Pastels make my toes curl. Gah.
