Just got back from Ikea. Failed to frighten or offend anyone by my very presence this time. (Some of you might not have heard the story of my first visit to Ikea - I got more dirty looks than I've had in any one place since I left small town Canada) It was also very non-busy (for Ikea).
At the weekend I will assemble the book shelves and play musical bookcases (I wanted one for my room, but the one I bought would be better for the living room, so much swapping around will happen). At which point I will be able to see the floor in here again, which isn't desirable in itself (the carpet is hideous), but it'll make tripping over happen a lot less.
Not spending money isn't really working. I went to look for the Leage of Extraordinary Gentlemen numbers I missed while on holiday yesterday. The otherwise quite wonderful Kathie's Comics were sold out, but I bought a Sandman graphic novel[1] and issues 1 and 2 of something called Clock Work (which I haven't had a chance to look at yet).
I will attempt to spend the next 29 days not spending money.
Jason bought the new Radiohead album today. What I've heard so far is quite spectacularly gloomy.
[1] The Sandman Long Story: Yes, I have been reading Sandman practically since the beginning. But up to number 32 (first part of A Game of You), I was reading those belonging to one of the Evil Exes. When I heaved his sorry arse out of the house, I had to start buying them myself. So I have originals from no. 32. Then I was broke for a long, long time, and this year I've finally started getting the graphic novels of the early issues. Only one more left and I'll have the lot.
