inulroI know I don't pay enough attention, but was anyone else aware of this? And why have they hidden this article in the education section? Do I just not spend enough time in the gay and lesbian community any more?

In short, faith-based schools are about to become exempt from laws prohibiting discrimination against gays and lesbians.
Dunno if it's too late to write to your MP early and often.
On a more upbeat note, when bored at work today (you don't say) I finally got around to searching for some more information on a really excellent film I saw recently on BBC4 - it's a Spanish number called The Devil's Backbone. It's sort of a ghost story and sort of about the Spanish Civil War, and set in a Very Remote Place. I didn't realize it was made by the director of Cronos ( a rather keen Mexican vampire film for those who aren't familiar with it). He also made Mimic, which I rather like even if no one else does (it has disused NYC subway stations, what's not to like?) and Blade II (which I haven't seen yet). Amazon are selling the DVD along with Cronos as one of their "buy one get a related item cheaper" package. If I was a DVD-buying person I'd be tempted, but I never watch any of the films that I already have. Anyway, I highly recommend it.
