Stuff. Again.
Sep. 23rd, 2007 10:42 pmI picked up my new spare pair of glasses yesterday. They also rock. In fact, they are so fabulous they might become my main pair of glasses. Or I might actually trade off and get some wear out of both pairs for the first time ever.
That's more exciting than it sounds. Really.
The BBC and their inspiring travel programmes are a mixed blessing. Michael Wood's The Story of India is not only fascinating on the history, it makes me want to get on a plane and go Right Now, which I obviously can't, or even in the near future. Michael Palin's New Europe has similar effects - especially tonight's segment in Cappadocia. I can't even come up with a plausible pitch to publishers to fund a travel book. (Well, I have one idea, but no outline, and it involves the North American west).
I missed Fantasycon. This wasn't due to the non-appearance of Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker this year, but to the non-appearance of funds in my bank account. Then again, I haven't read half the ton of books I bought last year.
Physically, I'm really not doing at all well, but this isn't accompanied by the usual mental blankness or outright depression that usually comes as a package with the pain and fatigue. Odd, but I'm not complaining. I'm also still getting quite a bit of walking done - not as much as I'd like, but more than I've done in most of my bad periods in the past. I seem to be coming to terms with being the disabled chick with no life. I'm sure the professionals would tell me that's healthy, but I can't stop seeing it as giving up.
Speaking of which, I've applied for the job I'm currently doing. For various long and complicated reasons that's no guarantee they're going to give it to me, nor am I 100% convinced that I want it, but more parts of the house are falling down than usual, and I would quite like a holiday, so having steady employment might not be an entirely Bad Thing.
On balance, lots more good than bad.

Date: 2007-09-24 02:14 am (UTC)I resolved to find the smallest pair I could fit on my face, as a counter to the rather large lenses i'd just paid out a months' shopping for.
I found these Red or Dead ones, in dark metallic blue:
They've become my main pair - I don't really know where my rimless all-singing ones are any more...
