I have got to get over my fear of driving. Although there's a bus to or from Cribbs Causeway every 5 minutes, they all take an hour to get there. I'm still glad I went - not so much because there's more shops than town (though that is true), but because they're laid out better so it's easier to see what they have, and the dressing rooms are bigger and nicer so trying stuff on is less of an ordeal (particularly important when you need *everything*). Anyway, I got a lovely skirt and pinafore/dress thing from Marks that went over budget but both fit very well, looked really good and seem to be built to last. I still need more tops because Dorothy Perkins didn't have much in my size. I just looked online (now that I know which size and which styles suit me, that seemed like a good idea) and they're sold out of size 10 in practically everything. I'm not impressed.

For the most part stayed the hell out of the nice footwear shops. Central Bristol is particularly appallingly served by shoe shops, so the temptation is great.

There was only one small shopping accident - I came home with a really cute but overpriced hat. My hair has got to that awkward length where I have Bad Hair Days again, so I've declared it a worthwhile investment. Oh, and one piece of Hallowe'en poo - the orange cat tea-light thingie from Whittards (not on the web site). The eyes glow when you light the candle. It's really quite good.

I had decided what to do with my Waterstones voucher - really basic stuff: a Raymond Chandler and the Seamus Heaney Beowolf so I can re-read it before I see the film (I have the old Penguin rattling around somewhere, but I want to treat myself). Cribbs has the worst Waterstones EVER - wall-to-ceiling chick-lit 3 for 2s and neither book I wanted in stock. I take back everything bad I said about the Galleries branch.

I saved a trip through John Lewis till last, but it was difficult to get to house stuff for all the miscellaneous Christmas crap to get for people you hate but have to buy for (something that's totally irrelevent to me), and the clothes were too depressing. There was a lilac sweater I really, really want. It's £120. That didn't bug me when there was just no way I could buy it. These days I actually have to make the decision - continue to pay off debts and save up for some big ticket items like a laptop, or buy expensive clothes. So I made my escape.

Somehow forgot to eat (which is incredibly odd for me) and actually didn't have any breakfast bars or anything on me when I was stuck on the bus and realised my mistake, so had a bit of a blood sugar incident, from which I still haven't really recovered despite eating non-stop since I got home. Yesterday.

The Beowulf film bothers me - I mean, it's got Angelina Jolie playing Grendel's mother. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I need your address so I can send you a book :) You can email the address to me.

But those lips are a thing of horror on their own!

I'm going because it'll be pretty and entertaining. I've been meaning to get the Heaney translation since it came out - the film coming out has just reminded me about it.
