I got an early Christmas present - Jason presented me with a laptop today!

This solves the problem of having digital radio in the bedroom along with giving me a computer with a USB drive so I can actually put music on my mp3 player. I can join the rest of the world now.

The touchpad thingie is going to take some getting used to - I shake a lot so I can't get the arrow where I want it half the time, and then it thinks I'm selecting when I'm not. So if any of you get half finished emails from me in the near future, that will be why.

*empathy* You should be able to turn down the sensitivity of the touch pad in the control panel.

I often use a little mouse with my laptop. It means I need a hard surface to work on, but it's easier.

It has occurred to me, but the main reason for having a laptop is working in bed or on the sofa, so that might not be practical.

Yeah, it's an annoyance.

But *squee* you have a shiny new laptop! That's awfully snazzy.

It's not strictly speaking new, but it is new to me, and it is shiny!

Rar!

I had huge trouble using a laptop on the bus to work. Much bumpier than the train, but it was 90 minutes each way so worth trying to work...

In the control panel for the touchpad there should be an option to disable the tap-emulates-left-mouse-click thing. Ditto the scrolling if it does that down the right-hand edge.

Jason showed me that last night, and I'm no longer ending up in random places on the web.
