Ottawa was cool. Much more interesting and nice than I expected, and it's too bad my brother's going to be leaving there before we next get to Canada. (Because we sure as hell can't afford a hotel there).

C8 was totally & completely fab. I probably won't get around to doing a proper write-up, seeing as everyone else already has. I didn't really get to meet anyone though, as the state of my health dictated that I had to sit down at all the events. Still, I had as full a weekend as I could manage, got to meet Daniel Richler (!) and enjoyed the bands immensely. Learned important lesson about not trying to see the sights in the city while Convergence is on. Next year allow three days afterwards to do tourist stuff.

I'd under-estimated just how little time we'd have in Toronto, and indeed how wiped out I'd be. So we did very little, but had some quality kitty time, drank lots of coffee (which had no effect) and spent loads of money at The Beguiling (excellent comic shop).

The holiday was almost completely perfect, until we got to check-in to come home at Pearson (which is my least favourite airport in the world anyway). After which everything was a total nightmare. I would have sworn we'd never travel by cheapie charter airline again, except that I've been assurred the passengers behave just as badly on full-price airlines these days. I really do resent the democratization or air travel.

On the good news front, the zoo seems to have survived our absence quite well, though the bunnies are a bit pissed off. It doesn't help that it's been either raining or too windy to let them out since we got home (they don't mind the getting wet so much, but they *hate* the wind.

Thanks to a combination of shitty flight home and being over-tired anyway, I have the worst jet-lag ever. I can't remember ever feeling so bad. Also, there is *no* serotonin in my brain whatsoever, so being less than excited about being back has translated into hating everything. If I ever get any sleep, I'm sure this will adjust itself.
