[books 2008] Filth Kiss

Some of you may not know that this is
naturalbornkaos's book, which explains my foray into the more gruesome end of the horror spectrum (I am your local ghost story and psychological horror nerd; I don't as a rule do gore).
Having said that, the gore doesn't overwhelm the story here, and there's a lot that's good. The quality of the writing is strong throughout. I have to admit to having seen the end and the identity of the crone coming a mile off, but it was an enjoyable ride nonetheless.
I'm reliably informed it's available at Amazon (UK) and in Waterstones nationally.
(Apologies to Chris for writing the worst review ever).

Without giving anything away, the book doesn't really deal in tension and resolution. It's just more and more tension, all the way. I kept expecting the good guys to make some sort of move to turn the tide (and ultimately triumph) - but that never happens. The Bad Things just keep getting worse, and the good guys don't triumph. Maybe that bit will come in the sequel!
I was rather frustrated to find a few silly proofing errors in the text - something that seems all too common in all kinds of books these days. I suppose publishers think tthat proofing is a corner that can be easily cut, but it still bugs me when I stumble over annoying errors - like, for example, 'scalded' for 'scolded'. And Gloucestershire is not 'up north' from London!

And thanks, Jodi, too. :) Glad you both enjoyed it.
Gloucestershire *is* up North! It's above Watford Gap...
